Sunderland Police: No one killed in Saturday’s accidental shooting
Published: 2/15/2021 6:29:49 PM
SUNDERLAND Police are investigating the reportedly accidental discharge of a firearm at the Mount Toby Acres apartment complex on Saturday morning.
Police Chief Erik Demetropoulos said he could not disclose much information due to the incident being a medical issue, but assured that no one was killed and the public is not in danger. He said Massachusetts State Police responded to the scene on Montague Road to assist his department.
Josh Mobley, who said he lives with his family in the apartment across the hall from where the incident occurred, said he was watching television alone in the living room at around 10 a.m. when he heard “an unfamiliar loud clapping.” He cracked open his apartment door and heard someone yelling, “Oh my God. Oh my God,” and to call 911.

AMHERST Removal of two large trees from the backyard at the North Amherst Library is a sign that a planned expansion of the 1893 building remains on track for this year.
With the trees gone from where the addition’s north wall will go, the initial steps to begin construction are taking place, Town Manager Paul Bockelman said Jan. 19. The project is being paid for by an anonymous donor.
Recently, a drilling rig was on site to take soil samples so the addition’s foundation can be designed, and the Department of Public Works, after taking away the stumps, dug test pits near the existing foundation.
