Tuesday s COVID-19 update is showing no COVID-19 deaths, a first for 2021.
Close to 30,000 Manitobans have recovered from the virus, totalling 29,453 recoveries. There are 1,212 active cases and there have been a total of 886 deaths. Dues to a data error, eight COVID-19 cases identified previously are being removed from the total, adding 68 to the total number of cases.
New COVID-19 cases include:
• 21 cases in the Northern health region;
• one case in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
• zero cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and

A fifth case of the B.1.1.7 coronavirus variant has been found in Manitoba as public-health officials reported 76 new cases and two new outbreaks at health-care facilities.

In a news release Tuesday, officials said there were no new deaths related to COVID-19; the last time Manitoba reported no COVID-19 deaths was Oct. 20.

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is five per cent provincially and 4.3 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30am on February 23, 2021, 76 new cases of the virus have been identified. However, eight cases have been removed due to data corrections. This brings the net-new number of cases today to 68 and the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 31,551.
Public health officials advise no additional deaths in people with COVID-19 have been reported today.
Case investigations continue and if a public health risk is identified, the public will be notified.
