BERLIN, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) Faith continues to wane amongst Schalke 04 fans after their club has now gone 29 league games without a win.
Frustration was further increased by new coach Huub Stevens failure to come up with a miracle in his first match back in charge.
With over a third of the season gone, Schalke is seven points from safety and on course for relegation after 36 seasons in Germany s top tier.
67-year-old club legend Stevens, seen as Schalke s last hope, lost the first of two games as stop-gap coach after Manuel Baum s sacking.
The struggling Royal Blues are closing in fast on the Bundesliga record, set by Tasmania Berlin 1965/66, of going 31 matches without a win.

LEVERKUSEN, Germany (AP) - Borussia Mönchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram spat in an opponent’s face and overshadowed Robert Lewandowski winning a top-of-the-table Bundesliga clash for Bayern Munich against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.
A last-minute goal by Robert Lewandowski took Bayern Munich back to the top of the Bundesliga after beating Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 on Saturday.
Two days after being crowned as FIFA s best male player, Lewandowski made the difference against Leverkusen with one goal to level the score and the winner in the final seconds of added time.
Neither goal was highlight-reel material opposition blunders played essential roles but it was enough to overhaul Leverkusen, which had gone unbeaten as they emerged as the surprise league leader.
The win was testament to Bayern s ability to play their way out of trouble. It was the seventh Bundesliga game in a row in which the German champion has come back to earn points after conceding the opening goal. Bayern went two points clear of Leverkusen and Leipzig at the top.

The early stages of Saturday’s Westphalian derby saw Schalke and Bielefeld play fast-paced, end-to-end football. Both sides had chances to take the lead with returning Schalke attacker Alessandro Schöpf threatening with a shot that sailed just over the bar and Bielefeld being denied twice in quick succession thanks to blocks from the excellent Salif Sane and keeper Ralf Fährmann. Just before the half-hour mark, Sergio Cordova thought he had put the visitors in front after being sent through on goal, only to see the linesman’s flag go up for offside. Just before the half-time whistle, a nearly identical scene unfolded; Cordova beat his man to latch onto a long ball and release a fierce shot that Schalke fans were relieved to see denied
