There were 88 new reported cases of COVID-19 in Waterloo region on Friday, along with one more death linked to the virus.
That brings the total number of new cases in December to 1,241 and since March, to 4,827.
There were 519 active cases in the region on Friday with 36 people in hospital and 10 of those people in the intensive care unit.
Dr. Hsiu-Li Wang, the region s medical officer of health, said case rates remain high and we are at risk for further increases.
Waterloo region reports 68 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday
Region of Waterloo Public Health is reporting 68 new cases of COVID-19 as of Thursday, a drop from Wednesday, when the region saw one of its largest daily increases.

After a COVID case was detected in a staff member

Health officials have confirmed another case in a staff member.
It s in the same cohort as the student case that was reported earlier in the week.
As a result, two more staff members have been instructed to self-isolate, but no other students will be required to do so.
The first student case at the school was reported on December 13.
The other active school outbreaks are at Monsignor Doyle Catholic Secondary School, Franklin Public School, as well as KidsAbility.
69 new COVID-19 cases, 1 more death reported in Waterloo region Monday
There are 69 new cases of COVID-19 in Waterloo region, public health reported Monday. One person has died from the virus and there are 26 active outbreaks in the region.

131 new COVID-19 cases, 3 more deaths in Waterloo region over weekend
Region of Waterloo public health is reporting 58 new cases on Saturday and 73 new cases on Sunday. There were three new deaths reported over the weekend, bringing the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 134.

There were three new deaths reported over the weekend, bringing the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 134.
The number of people in hospital with the infection remains at 37, 13 of whom are in the intensive care unit.
