TORONTO For Ottawa-based rapper and motivational speaker Cody “Coyote” Purcell, working through intergenerational trauma meant sticking to his dream of making music. Purcell grew up in Ottawa’s Pineview neighbourhood, which at the time was known for violence and gang activity. “A lot of people that I grew up with in this neighbourhood – some didn’t make it, some are deceased, some are locked up in jail,” Purcell told CTV News’ Creeson Agecoutay. Purcell himself joined a gang after high school, and it wasn’t until taking part in an Indigenous justice program at 21 that he turned his life around.
Alamos Gold doubles its land base near Dubreuilville

Alamos Gold has wrapped up an agreement to acquire its Dubreuilville neighbour, Trillium Mining, for $25 million.
Trillium s namesake gold project is comprised of 5,418 hectares located to the east of Alamos Island Gold Deposit. It hosts the former Edwards and Cline gold mines. Dubreuilville is 15 kilometres to the west.
In a Dec. 17 news release, Alamos said this acquisition more than doubles their land position in the area by 57 per cent. The company will have almost 15,000 hectares at its disposal in Michipicoten Greenstone Belt of this northeastern Ontario gold camp.
Canada Nickel signs unique agreement with First Nation at Crawford project

Canada Nickel Company (TSXV: CNC; US-OTC: CNIKF) is partnering with the Taykwa Tagamou First Nation to develop electric power for its Crawford nickel-cobalt sulphide project in Ontario’s Timmins-Cochrane mining camp.
Under a memorandum of understanding, the Taykwa Tagamou Nation will develop the electrical transmission assets to supply Crawford with reliable power and the junior exploration company will then rent the assets from TTN over the life of the mine or for a 20-year period, whichever comes first.
Canada Nickel, Ontario First Nations sign deal to advance Crawford December 15, 2020
Canada Nickel Company and the Matachewan and Mattagami First Nations signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in relation to exploration and development operations at the Crawford nickel-cobalt sulphide project in Ontario.
In a press release, the parties involved explained that the MOU establishes a commitment by Canada Nickel to engage in ongoing consultation and establish a mutually beneficial co-operative and productive relationship with the First Nations located in the project area.
