Pakistan approves Rs549m for development projects in Afghanistan

Islamabad: Pakistan has announced the approval of funds worth Rs549 million for two development projects in Afghanistan. The recent grant includes the approval for Rs61 million funds for the feasibility study for the construction of a new railway link from Peshawar to Afghanistan’s city of Jalalabad. Nearly Rs488 million have also been approved for the construction of different health projects, including Jinnah Hospital Kabul, Aminullah Khan Logari Hospital in Logar province and Nishtar Kidney Hospital in Jalalabad, Nangarhar province. The assistance is part of Pakistan’s development partnership with the neighbouring country under the government’s Afghanistan Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Programme. Economic development and reconstruction of Afghanistan is Pakistan’s top priority, said Secretary of the Ministry for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Mathar Niaz Rana who chaired the meeting in which the grant was approved.

PPPA accords approval to Pakistan Posts revamping Business February 3, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The Executive Committee of the Board of Public-Private Partnership Authority (PPPA) accorded approval to the Project Development Fund’s support for Pakistan Post’s “Upgradation revamping of Pakistan Post logistics business on PPP mode”. PPPA CEO Malik Ahmad Khan said that this project is expected to optimise the current services of Pakistan Post, offer innovative products and services, and other revenue streams of supply chain and logistics management that cater to the industry and corporate sector needs. On the upgradation of Pakistan Post, DCPC said that the better utilisation of the funds allocated for the purpose is the top priority of the government.

CDWP approves 2 projects February 2, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The Planning Commission s Central Development Working Party (CDWP) in a meeting on Monday approved two projects worth Rs11.6 billion and accorded concept clearance of two proposals. The meeting was held under chairmanship of Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan, with participation of Secretary Planning Mathar Niaz Rana, senior officials from Planning Commission and federal ministries/divisions, and representatives from provincial governments, who participated via video link. Two projects related to health were presented in the meeting. The first project, “Establishment of 250-bed Mother and Child Hospital Sialkot, Punjab” worth Rs4,970.65 million, was approved by the CDWP.

Balochistan s 80pc PSDP allocation authorised

Business January 30, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Planning, Development & Special Initiatives (M/o PD&SI) had made upfront authorisation of 80 percent of the amount allocated for PSDP 2020-21 for Balochistan in favour of the concerned ministries, divisions, and agencies, an official said on Friday. “In total, an amount of Rs82.1 billion has been allocated for 184 projects including Rs26 billion for 46 new projects in PSDP 2020-21,” said Secretary Planning Mathar Niaz Rana, while briefing the second meeting of Oversight Committee on Federal Funded PSDP Projects in Balochistan. Oversight Committee Reviews Federal Funded PSDP Projects in Balochistan The second meeting of the Oversight Committee on Federal Funded Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) Projects in Balochistan held under the chairmanship of Khalid Hussain Magsi, in Islamabad, on Friday. Secretary Planning, Mathar Niaz Rana, along with senior officials of the Planning Commission, reviewed the progress on Federally Funded PSDP projects and highlighted the necessary interventions and development of Balochistan through Federal PSDP.
