Bob Brown has been a champion for fiscal responsibility and students-first initiatives that have moved UNT forward throughout the seven years he has served the university as senior vice president for finance and administration.
Brown’s strong work ethic and dedication to UNT helped him guide the university through a tough financial transformation that set a strong foundation for UNT’s recent progress. He even unveiled himself in superhero garb at a staff meeting in an effort to pump up the staff.
There is no question that Brown more than deserves to be named UNT’s Brand Ambassador of the Month for May, an award presented to staff and faculty who demonstrate four or more of UNT’s primary brand attributes creative, imaginative, artistic, original, dedicated, persevering, industrious, resilient, supportive, friendly, compassionate and inclusive.

State Senator Kim LaSata has announced Cowboy Up is the first recipient of her Small Business of the Month award. LaSata started the Small Business of the Month Award this year as a way to salute small businesses around her district at a time when many are struggling. Cowboy Up is a country-themed restaurant, line dancing, and live music venue in Menden, which is in St. Joseph County. One fan who nominated Cowboy Up wrote, “This small business may appear to be nothing more than a barn in the cornfields of Southwest Michigan…but Cowboy Up is so much more than a barn, or a small business; it is a home full of roots, boots, and family.” LaSata says she’s proud to name it as her first Small Business of the Month. You can nominate a small business for the award at LaSata’s website.
