These 7 Essex and Jericho students recently received college accolades

Vermont Technical College Honors Celebration Essex Megan Charland received the Colgate STAR Award.  Dip Sharma received the Computer Engineering Technology Award, BS and was inducted into the Tau Alpha Pi Honor Society.  Peter Roy received the Electrical Engineering Technology Faculty Award for Excellence (Bachelor s Degree) and is a Student Engineer of the Year Nominee. Stephen White received the Vermont Agency of Transportation, Aviation Division Award. Cara Ladouceur was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau. Jericho Orin Goss was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa and Tau Alpha Pi Honor Society.

Q&A with incoming university President Katherine Banks

Katherine Banks, Ph.D., will step into her role as the 26th President of Texas A&M beginning June 1. Banks will be the second woman to serve as president of the university. Soon-to-be university President Banks spoke with The Battalion news reporter Aubrey Vogel; read their Q&A below. THE BATTALION: How did you get to Texas A&M, and what has your role looked like up until this point? KB: I arrived at Texas A&M in January of 2012. I was [formerly the] department head at Purdue University in the department of civil engineering. I moved to Purdue from Kansas State University in 1997 where I was a professor for seven years. I joined Kansas State University after I received my Ph.D. from Duke University in 1989. Q&A: Henry Stonehouse, naval architect at BAE Systems

Since then, he has designed a concept for a Logistics Support Craft (LSC), part of the next generation of small boats that are pushing the boundaries of marine capability. The Student Engineer caught up with Henry to find out about his career path and what life is like at BAE’s Boats team.  What first led you towards a career in engineering? My grandpa was a Naval Architect in the Royal Corps of Naval Constructors and I grew up on his stories about his time working and training in the navy as a designer and constructor.
