During the Feb. 9, Liberty County School System Board of Education meeting Kisya Burnett stood before the BOE, during public participation, and alleged that the BOE had broken many promises they’ve made to the educators and staff in the district.
“You promised teachers that they would receive new laptops by the end of January,” she said. “But it’s Feb. 9 and no laptops in sight.” Burnett said teachers were promised a Christmas dinner before the holiday break but all the BOE offered their educators were bags of chips and salsa. She also accused the BOE of providing, “Weekly lies,” on their COVID-19 reports alleging the BOE is underreporting the amount of cases within the district.

WAYNESBORO The COVID-19 pandemic has affected everyone in some way. Individuals have lost jobs and loved ones.
And America’s youth have lost opportunities for socialization and the support provided in a school setting.
A recent
New York Times article reported that 18 students in Las Vegas died by suicide between March and December of 2020.
7th annual Jump Start Convention goes virtual, takes place today and tomorrow BATON ROUGE, La. The Louisiana Department of Education’s annual Jump Start Convention (will open in new tab) welcomes educators and industry leaders today and tomorrow (January 26-27). Approximately 1,200 Louisiana educators and industry leaders will reflect on the progress of the state s premier career and technical education (CTE) program, build knowledge, share resources and strategize for the future. The event s theme is Inspire. Innovate. Impact. While this is the seventh year for this annual event, it is the first time the convention will be held virtually. “Louisiana’s graduates must be ready for a career or college when their time in high school is done,” said State Superintendent of Education Dr. Cade Brumley. “The success of our Jump Start program and of events like this convention demonstrate our commitment to ensuring every student is on track to a professional career,
