May 5, 2021 The Washington State University Division of Academic Engagement and Student Achievement (DAESA) celebrated faculty, staff, and students whose contributions throughout academic year 2020-21 promoted student, teaching, and learning success and excellence university wide. University Common Requirements (UCORE) The Richard G. Law Excellence Award for Undergraduate Teaching is presented to Allyson Beall King, scholarly associate professor and associate director of undergraduate programs in the School of the Environment in the College of Arts and Sciences. Allyson Beall King King is commended for having developed and refined an innovative student-centered pedagogy that is process-oriented, collaborative, experiential, and curiosity-driven. The award selection committee noted her attention to issues of belonging, equity, and retention, and that she places top priority on welcoming non-majors into the world of environmental science.

Deming Public School announcements for Wednesday, April 28, 2021 Headlight staff reports Fred Parker recognized The New Mexico School Boards Association (NMSBA) Deming Public Schools Administrator Fred Parker is the recipient of the 2021 Excellence in Student Achievement Awards. The award, sponsored by NMSBA, are presented to individuals selected by local boards of education throughout New Mexico who have played an important role in improving student achievement in their local school district. Fifty-Eight (58) school boards participated in this year’s program and two hundred and nineteen (219) award recipients were selected. Online registration open Online registration is now open for PreK, Kinder, and new students to the district. You are not required to register online if you were a student in the 2020-2021 school year, in grades K-12, attending Deming Public Schools(DPS).

WSU students land 3 Goldwater Awards to support STEM research | WSU Insider

April 20, 2021 Division of Academic Engagement and Student Achievement (DAESA) The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation has announced that Washington State University juniors India Dykes, Haley Morris, and Gunnar Sly have each received $7,500 awards for the coming year, said April Seehafer, director of the WSU Distinguished Scholarships Program. Prestigious national Goldwater awards are given to highly qualified undergraduates intending to pursue careers in math, the natural sciences, or engineering. Dykes, a junior from Spokane, is majoring in bioengineering in the Voiland School of Engineering and Biosciences in the Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture. Her mentors are Arda Gozen, Bernard Van Wie, and Anita Vasavada.
