UA Little Rock to kick-off semester with Welcome Back Week No Comments
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock will welcome its returning students with a week of fun-filled events to help kick start the spring 2021 semester.
The spring semester begins Tuesday, Jan. 19, and Welcome Back Week runs through Friday, Jan 22. New and returning students will be able to pick up free Personal Protective Equipment kits, breakfast, and school supplies.
Additional events include student chats with the Student Experience Center, Trojan Transition & Assistance Center, Counseling Services, and a virtual escape room. The STAR Office will also hold several events to help students succeed at online learning.

Morehead State’s Office of Communications and Marketing (OCM) won a gold award in the Eighth Annual Education and Digital Marketing Awards for the Student Orientation and Registration (SOAR) Online microsite.
Typically, SOAR is an in-person, on-campus event, but was converted to a virtual platform due to the COVID-19 pandemic. SOAR allows incoming first-year students to learn more about their academic fields of interest, take a campus tour, register for their first-semester classes and interact with current MSU students, faculty and staff.

NODA association focuses on orientation, transition and retention in higher education
New Student Orientation director elected to NODA board of directors

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. Katie Motycki, senior associate director for New Student Orientation within Student Orientation and Transition Programs (SOTP) at Penn State, was recently elected to the NODA board of directors for a 3-year term. The position will enable Motycki to shape national conversations related to acclimating entering students to college life.
NODA: An Association for Orientation, Transition and Retention in Higher Education, brings together professionals from colleges and universities for peer-to-peer learning opportunities for its members. Motycki, who has worked at Penn State for seven years, will join 11 other board members from member colleges and universities as they lead the organization through the pandemic and what lies beyond.
