Firefighters save six-generation family cabin from explosive Bootleg Fire in Klamath Co

KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore. – The Bootleg Fire in Klamath County more than doubled in size overnight. As it continues to grow, it’s threatening 3,000 structures. The Burrell family owns a cabin in Chiloquin. It’s been in their family for 6 generations. They just found out today their home is saved thanks to firefighters. Elizabeth Meadows and Danielle Burrell live in the Rogue Valley full-time. But their family owns a cabin in Chiloquin. “Our great-grandfather bought that property back in the 50s, he was a fish and game for the state police,” said Meadows, “We call it a cabin, but it’s actually a railroad car”.

As the investigation begins into helicopter emergency landing in lake, new pictures are released

LAKE SHASTINA, Cali. – NBC5 News is learning more about an emergency helicopter landing in a lake in Siskiyou County Wednesday. The only man on board the helicopter swam away safely. But the investigation into what happened is only just beginning. The USDA Forest Service decided last weekend to temporarily ground all Bell 212 helicopters. It comes after a fatal incident in Canada last month, where one firefighter died in a helicopter crash. Now multiple federal agencies are investigating just what happened Wednesday at Lake Shastina. Something of a miracle. The pilot of a Bell 212 helicopter swimming away unscathed, after making an emergency landing into Lake Shastina Wednesday. The pilot was getting water to help fight the Lava Fire burning in Siskiyou County.

Amid drought, some worry water from Medford Water Commission is going to illegal use

MEDFORD, Ore. – With many local jurisdictions facing water shortages farmers are becoming increasingly concerned about people using water for illegal use. The Medford Water Commission said that could be true, but they don’t know. Folks were filling up at the Medford Water Commission’s Filling Station on Columbus Drive in West Medford. Many told NBC5 News the line can sometimes be about two hours long nothing like it was in the early afternoon. There were about two cars at a time. It’s the only filling station in Jackson County where people can pop in some quarters and get a large amount of water.

Eight years later, there s still no answers for missing woman Stephanie Anne Warner

RUCH, Ore. – July 4th, 2013 a Ruch woman went missing after Ashland’s 4th of July parade. Eight years later, detectives are still waiting for a break in the case. With so many unanswered questions on how Stephanie Anne Warner went missing. Her family wants to know where Stephanie is. “We love her and we miss her and we want her back,” said Sharon Lambert, Warner’s sister. It was a day that started out as a joyous occasion, July 4th, 2013 but ended in a disappearance.  Then 43-year old Stephanie Anne Warner went missing from her Ruch home after going to the Ashland 4th of July parade with her boyfriend, Lennie Ames.
