LARAMIE Requirements for social distancing and the wearing of masks at the University of Wyoming have been lifted, following action by the Wyoming Department of Health, UW announced on Monday.
“Effective today, the university is only recommending masks and distancing for those who have not been vaccinated for COVID-19, continuing UW’s transition to a traditional fall 2021 semester,” the release states.
UW’s Board of Trustees voted earlier this month to follow state Department of Health orders, which required masks in educational settings indoors only when social distancing couldn’t be maintained. The agency removed that requirement for higher education institutions Friday.

The University of North Dakota is latest entity to announce a date to de-mask.
Beginning June 1st UND will no longer require masks on campus. Individuals who are not fully vaccinated are strongly encouraged to continue wearing a face covering. The decision is intended to align the university with updated guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
In a notice to the campus community the message states the strongest measure of protection is vaccination which has been a game-changer for the campus and local community.
The University asks all individuals to continue to do their part to keep the community safe by: getting fully vaccinated…washing hands often…and physical distancing.
