On April 14, Minot State University held our annual MSU Giving Day. This is an online, 24-hour event through the MSU Foundation to raise funds and support over 50 programs across campus. Our Giving Day event began in 2018 and occurred again in 2019. Last year, it was shifted to a singular focus by raising funds for our Student Emergency Fund during the early days of COVID, and so it was exciting getting back to the original focus and format with this year’s Giving Day.
Thanks to the generosity of many of you reading these words, this year’s results were truly amazing. Nearly $270,000 was raised in just one day on April 14! The funds raised will support a range of activities at MSU including supporting a variety of academic programs and specialized equipment needs across campus, Beaver Athletic teams, Music and the Fine Arts, the Summer Theatre renovation project currently underway, student scholarships, the Northwest Arts Center, the MSU Alumni Association, student

Penn State students can help Swipe Out Hunger during Earth Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. All Penn State residential campuses will host Swipe Out Hunger in conjunction with Earth Week 2021. During the week of April 19-23, students who have excess dining dollars left over on their meal plans can donate $5, $10, or $15 of their campus meal plan to the Student Emergency Fund any time they dine on campus.
The Student Emergency Fund is a program that provides short-term financial assistance to students experiencing crisis situations.

To get in on the action, all you’ll need to do is let your cashier know as you check out of any dining commons across campus.
“Swipe Out Hunger” is a national nonprofit committed to ending hunger among college students. The program has been implemented at more than 130 colleges and universities across the country.
“This partnership follows recommendations from Penn State President Eric Barron’s Housing and Food Security Task Force,” Anna Sostarecz, Penn State Food Service’s sustainability coordinator
said in a release. “And we’re especially excited to partner with Swipe Out Hunger after piloting our own iteration of a dining dollar donation program in 2019. This event highlights some of the human or social elements of sustainability: Caring for each other is an integral part of sustaining the Earth.”

Whether you’re an experienced runner, novice jogger or weekend walker, Texas A&M International University is inviting the students, faculty, staff and the local community to participate in the annual The Big Event through a virtual 5K, happening this Saturday, April 17.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be a challenge for people in the community, TAMIU’s Student Government Association Leaders Organizing Volunteering Events (L.O.V.E.) Committee will collect donations to support the University’s Student Emergency Fund.
