Members at Monday’s Grants Committee meeting authorize a grant application for the federal Emergency Rental Assistance Program available to qualifying governments with a population of 200,000 or more. The grants are designed to give rental assistance to both renters and landlords; Madison County Community Development would represent the county. Illinois has issued moratoriums on evictions, which has created hardships for landlords not getting paid. As the moratoriums expire, there has been concern that subsequent evictions could create a great deal of hardship.

Mike Bost. Dave Tanzyus of Collinsville would replace Trudy Bodenbach who has occupied the position for three years. Bodenbach replaced Kristen Poshard, who was terminated for failing to show up for work for several months. Madison County Board Chairman Kurt Prenzler declined to comment on Bodenbach’s departure. Tanzyus has nearly 30 years of experience at all levels ofr government and small business, according to a release from the Madison County Board office.

The county is partnering with senior service agencies and local restaurants to deliver a special dinner next week. Madison County Community Development is working with Senior Services Plus in Alton, Main Street Community Center in Edwardsville, and Highland Meals on Wheels to provide funding for the holiday delivery event. MCCD Program Coordinator Lisa Mersinger tells The Big Z the meals will be prepared by 10 locally owned restaurants. For Christmas, the firm will help seniors in a partnership with Madison County. EDWARDSVILLE Madison County is partnering with senior service agencies and local restaurants to deliver a special dinner to the elderly and/or disabled who are shut in this holiday season. Madison County Community Development (MCCD) is working with Senior Services Plus (SSP), in Alton, Main Street Community Center, in Edwardsville, and Highland Meals On Wheels to provide funding for a holiday delivery event.
