Darby Thomas led the NU women in the long jump, setting a new personal best of 20-9 1/4 (6.33m) to finish 16th.
Jessica Gardner narrowly missed out on qualifying for nationals, placing 15th in the pole vault after tying her career-best performance of 13-8 1/4 (4.17m).
Nebraska track and field freshmen
Maddie Harris both finished in the top 12 in the javelin at the NCAA West Preliminary Round on Thursday to secure a spot at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in two weeks.
The Husker men will be back in action on Friday. Nebraska has athletes competing in the high jump, triple jump, 4×100-meter relay, 1,500 meters and 110-meter hurdles. The first event is the high jump at 1 p.m.

Athletes who rank among the top 48 in their respective events earned berths into the NCAA West Preliminary Round, as well as the 24 best relay times.
The Husker men claimed 19 bids to the regional meet, while the women’s team accounted for 12. Athletes with the top-12 times/marks and the best 12 relay teams at both the NCAA East and West prelims will qualify for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., from June 9-12.

HOCKEY: High School Hockey Club A warmed up for a big clash this week with a 4-0 win over fellow club side High School Hockey Club Old Girls. High School A will take confidence from the win at the twin turfs on Saturday as they head into the game against rivals College Premier this weekend. The two sides are regular contenders at playoff time. High School A were in control for most of the game against Old Girls, scoring two goals in each half.

For some, posts on sites like Instagram and TikTok have become platforms for breaking down mental health stigmas.
“Especially during COVID, I think it’s really hard to be reminded that other people are going through the same struggles,” said Maddie Harris, co-president of Mental Health Matters OSU, a student organization at the Ohio State University.
