This story has been updated to correct an error. BREWSTER  After years of planning, Fairless Local Schools will break ground this spring on a new high school.  Superintendent Broc Bidlack said no official date has been set for the groundbreaking but the district should begin moving dirt in late April to mid-May.  Officials have discussed the need to replace the aging building, but things got serious when the district began receiving payments from the Rover Pipeline that runs through the district. (The building) has served the Fairless community very well, but everything must come to an end, Bidlack said. The infrastructure of this building is tired.

Libraries use pandemic to reinvent, rethink way they serve patrons

The Massillon Public Library was barreling along last year, hosting more services and more programs. The meeting rooms were being used by the United Way to reach additional clients and the technology department was teaching patrons to use the internet and edit photos. Then it all came to a halt.  The words coronavirus, COVID-19, virus and pandemic became the norm, and the library and its counterparts - as well as schools and businesses - shut down. Gov. Mike DeWine ordered Ohioans to stay home.  Wham, it was like we hit a wall, Massillon Public Library Director Sherie Brown said. It was COVID and were were completely sidelined.
