On Thursday, June 10, the organization will host its first-ever CEO Soak at Rings Fountain on the Rose Kennedy Greenway in downtown Boston, with an option to soak remotely at the office or home. The event’s $100,000 fundraising goal helps continue providing vital care services for local families living with ALS, while raising awareness for the incurable neurodegenerative disease.

(Courtesy) When I was in college, my mother gave me a burnt orange, boiled wool jacket with flowers embroidered on the pockets. The coat had been hers in the ‘60s, but there was no sign of wear on the garment when she passed it on to me decades later. My mom was impeccable in her care for things and people. I loved that coat right through its lining. Then, when the jacket was less sturdy, I returned it to her, wilting, on a bent hanger. She might have criticized me, but she didn’t. Instead, she gently suggested that coats can be relined.

Steven Senne / AP Children as young as 12 years old might begin receiving COVID vaccines as soon as next week. The FDA is expected to rule early in the week on whether to expand the emergency use authorization for the Pfizer vaccine. A federal vaccine advisory committee is then scheduled to meet Wednesday. That committee could recommend to the CDC that kids aged 12 to 15 be allowed to get the vaccine. Currently, Pfizer s vaccine is approved for anyone over 16.
