Four killed in rain-related incidents in KP

July 20, 2021 PESHAWAR: Four people were killed and three others sustained injuries in rain-related incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday. A boy and his sister died and three others were injured in a wall collapse incident in the Kanda Sirajkhel area in Takht-i-Nusrati tehsil. The children were going home when the wall collapsed during heavy rain. The personnel of Rescue 1122 and local people retrieved the children from the debris of the wall. The dead boy and his sister were identified as Sudain,10, and Eman,8. Torrential rains killed two tourists and damaged houses, bridges and roads in Upper Dir. The two tourists were killed when their car plunged into the Kohistan River at Biyar. They were identified as Salman, son of Shahid, a resident of Peshawar and Sahib, son of Bakht Munir, a resident of Shaikh Maltoon Town in Mardan.

Balochistan faces sharp increase in Covid-19 cases - Newspaper

AFP/File QUETTA: The Balochistan government has expressed concern over sharp increase in Covid-19 cases during its fourth wave in the province. Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday, spokesman Liaquat Shahwani said the rate of positive cases of coronavirus in the province had reached 12 per cent because the people were showing casual attitude towards vaccination. “Now it is the responsibility of the people to protect themselves from coronavirus and get vaccinated,” Mr Shahwani said. He said the coronavirus cases had been rising in Balochistan over the past 10 days. Cases had inc­reased to 9.1pc in Quetta this month while in Gwadar 29pc cases were reported during the last one month. Cases were also reported from Turbat, Panjgur, Nasirabad, Lasbela and other districts.
