Muise named executive director for Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres

For the first time in 40 years the Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres (OFIFC) has a new executive director.
Earlier this year federation officials revealed Sylvia Maracle, the only executive director the OFIFC has had, would be retiring this summer.
And on Monday it was announced that Gertie Mai Muise is serving as the OFIFC’s incoming executive director.
“I think it is a milestone,” Muise said of the fact she will be replacing Maracle after her four-decade career as the OFIFC executive director. “She started it up and she built it.”
VANCOUVER Expanded virtual care, fast-tracked during the pandemic, has been a success says BC Children’s Hospital. During the pandemic, some BC Children’s Hospital programs increased virtual health visits from five to 100 per cent and others quickly implemented or expanded virtual care, states a news release put out Tuesday by Provincial Health Services Authority, the body that manages health services across B.C. “One of the silver linings of the COVID-19 pandemic is that it has fast-tracked adoption of virtual care throughout our health system,” says Dr. Jana Davidson, chief medical health officer for BC Children’s and BC Women’s.

A 28-year-old man was shot and killed Sunday at Vancouver International Airport in what police believe was a gang-related killing.
The shooting, which occurred mid-afternoon outside the departures terminal, was the latest in a spate of gang-related violence across B.C. s Lower Mainland, police said.
Sgt. Frank Jang with the Lower Mainland s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), said the victim was known to police.
Richmond RCMP responded to reports of a shooting at around 3 p.m. local time. Police intercepted the getaway vehicle an SUV and were shot at by the suspects, who are still at large, said Jang.
