Mombasa-based manufacturer Pwani Oil has partnered with the Kenya Professional Nurses Association (KPNA) to sensitize residents of Kilifi County on prevention and eradication of Malaria.
The project involves educating local communities on malaria prevention through the use of mosquito nets and other simple measures like using soap containing mosquito repellants. Besides offering logistical support, Pwani Oil also donated Detrex Citronella soap containing citronella, a natural ingredient that repels mosquitoes and other insects, and Detrex hand sanitizing gel.
Kilifi County has among the highest prevalence of malaria in the country, with 20-50 people out of 1,000 in the county diagnosed with the disease in 2019.

Three families in Likoni are desperately searching for their kin allegedly abducted by unknown people in the troubled Half London area.
Fauz Mohammed, 27, Ramadhan Omar, 23, and Brian Hamisi, 23, were separately picked from their houses in the wee hours of Thursday in a well-coordinated operation that left the families and residents in shock.
The families reported that a heavily armed group of 20 men arrived in the area in several cars and cordoned off the premises before taking the three away.
Combat gear
The families, who reported the matter at Shelly Beach Police Station yesterday, claimed the abductors were in full combat gear and used explosives to break into the houses.

BUSINESS
The Covid-19 pandemic has driven millions of white-collar workers out of the office, and many analysts argue that working from home is here to stay.
This has resulted in redesigning of already existing homes for the purpose of fitting an office or incorporating working space during construction of new houses.
A business review done by Harvard University on re-imagining the urban office says the pandemic has abruptly challenged a decade of corporate real estate and workplace design decisions by calling into question the purpose of large centralised office locations.
The study says that with many organisations maintaining work-from-home policies for the foreseeable future, it is an optimal time to plan for a post-pandemic workplace strategy, by revisiting the conventional wisdom behind the centralised office.
“Furnished apartments and private villas are among the licensed accommodation establishments that offer regulated hospitality services. They are listed in our 4th Annex of the Tourism Board Regulations 2014 and must be registered, inspected, and approved by TRA before the start of operations,” the statement signed by TRA Central’s regional director, Moses Karanja read in part.
It added that for members to be successfully registered by TRA and issued with the regulatory license, they must meet the minimum requirements for licensing these activities and services.
Operators will now be required to pay an annual fee per person for the current year rather than per unit due to the current economic downturn caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
