County's COVID-19 Positivity Rate Dips Below 3% for First Time in 4 Months

Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics for Feb. 24 The Maryland Department of Health reported 141 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County Wednesday morning. The county’s cumulative case count is 62,767. Montgomery County recorded two newly reported coronavirus-related fatalities Wednesday. The death toll is currently 1,354, the highest in the state. As of Wednesday, 17 schools in the state are reporting COVID-19 cases, of those 17 two are located in Montgomery County. They include: The Primary Day School in Bethesda reports eight cases. Torah School of Greater Washington in Silver Spring reports two cases. The county has a rolling seven-day average of 2.95% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is a decrease of 0.22 from Tuesday’s average rate of 3.17%. This is the first time the rate is below 3% since Oct. 28, 2020 when the rate was 2.95%. The county’s positivity rate is lower than in 16 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions.

As of Wednesday, 26 schools in the state are reporting COVID-19 cases, five are located in Montgomery County. They include: The Avalon School in Wheaton reports three cases. Montgomery County Reports 14 COVID-19 Deaths Nearly 3 Weeks After Holidays

Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics for Jan. 13, 2021 The Maryland Department of Health reported 353 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County Wednesday morning. The county’s cumulative case count is 52,368. Montgomery County recorded 14 new coronavirus-related fatalities Wednesday, bringing the death toll to 1,160. Coming nearly three weeks after Christmas, this number of deaths reported in a 24-hour period is the highest during the second wave of the pandemic. The same pattern was seen three weeks after Thanksgiving last year, when on Dec. 17 the county reported 14 deaths. As of Wednesday, 12 schools in the state are reporting COVID-19 cases, one school is located in Montgomery County. Rockville’s College Gardens Elementary School is reporting two positive cases of COVID-19.
