In this blink-and-you’ll-miss-it, one-stoplight town, dozens of residents still fly “Trump 2020” and “Make America Great Again” flags.
A now-shuttered bar brought the FBI and other investigators to Woodstock, Ohio, about 40 miles northwest of Columbus, this month. Bedsheets and drapes cover the windows of the Jolly Roger Bar and Grill, except for a sliver where an “open” sign flickers in red, white and blue.
It is here, federal authorities allege, that Army veteran Jessica Watkins tended bar and recruited members for a local militia group she founded in 2019, according to her claims in social media posts. She affiliated it with the Oath Keepers, an extremist, militaristic group believed to have thousands of members nationally, authorities say.

Jessica Marie Watkins, 38, and Donovan Ray Crowl, 50, both of Champaign County, Ohio, and Thomas Caldwell, 65, of Clarke County, Virginia, were indicted in federal court in Washington on charges including conspiracy, destruction of government property, and unlawful entry on restricted building or grounds.
The trio each face decades in prison if convicted.
According to charging documents, the three accused communicated with each other prior to Jan. 6 and “coordinated their attack,” the Department of Justice said. The exchanges included discussions about lodging options and joining forces with other Oath Keepers members.

Decked out in full tactical gear, Jessica Watkins appeared ready for battle, but her face, peering out from under her ballistic helmet, was jubilant.
“We’re in the fucking Capitol, bro,” she declared, looking straight into a cellphone camera and flashing a victory sign.

Watkins, 38, a veteran of the war in Afghanistan who has for the past two years run a bar in the small village of Woodstock, Ohio, is facing some of the most serious charges yet filed from the mob insurrection that left five people dead and sent members of Congress fleeing for their lives early this month.
