3 educationists made national professors

The government has appointed three eminent educationists as national professors of the country.
They are Professor Alamgir Mohammad Sirajuddin, Professor AK Azad Khan, and Professor Mahmud Hasan. The Ministry of Education issued a gazette notification in this regard on Thursday.
Alamgir Mohammad Sirajuddin is a reputed professor of history and a former Vice Chancellor of Chittagong University. A Barrister-at-law, he was an emeritus professor of the university. He also served as a UGC Professor. His scholarly writings are considered as assets for students, legal academicians and historians.
AK Azad Khan is the President of Diabetic Association of Bangladesh (BADAS). As the founder President of Bangladesh Gastroenterology Society, he organised Gastroenterology services in the country. After a passage of six year, an anti-terrorism court acquitted on Friday 26 persons booked in an illegal explosives case following a raid at the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) headquarters, Nine Zero.
Issuing the verdict on 54 cases, the court acquitted 12 MQM workers, including Faisal alias Mota, Ubaid alias K-2, Nadir Shah, Amir alias Sar Phata, Amir alias Totla, Imtiaz, Abdul Qadir, Kazim Raza, Muhammad Amir, Shakeel, Mahmood Hasan, Muhammad Abid and Farhan Shabbir alias Mullah.
The party workers were booked under the Sindh Arms Act, 2013 and Explosives Substances Act, 1908.

DHAKA, Feb 25, 2021 (BSS) – The National Tree Plantation Campaign and Tree Fair 2021 will be held this year aiming at encouraging people to plant trees and conserve forest to increase the country’s green coverage.
The theme of the campaign and fair is ‘Mujib Barshe Angikar Kori, Shonar Bangla Gare Tuli’, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin told a preparatory inter-ministerial meeting at the Secretariat here today.
The meeting was arranged ahead of the World Environment Day and Environment Fair 2021 and the National Tree Plantation Campaign and Tree Fair 2021, said a ministry press release.

A sessions court on Thursday granted bail to the main suspect in a case pertaining to the alleged underage marriage of Arzoo a teenage Christian girl who was allegedly abducted before being forcefully converted and married to a Muslim man.
Police have detained and booked the main suspect Syed Ali Azhar, cleric Qazi Abdul Rasool Naqshbandi who allegedly performed the underage marriage, the Justice of Peace who issued the marriage certificate, and facilitators and witnesses under Section 376 (punishment for rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and Section 3 of the Sindh Child Marriages Restraint Act, 2013.
