The DIG refused to comment further.
Santosh Kumar Chakma, inspector of PBI Chattogram metro unit and also the investigation officer of the case, said, We are interrogating him [Babul]. As he is the complainant in the case, we can interrogate him.
This is the second time Babul has been taken into police custody.
On June 25, 2016, he was interrogated in police custody for 15 hours. He was later relieved of his job on September 6, 2016.
Babul now works at a private company.
PBI took charge of the case, which Babul filed with Panchlaish Police Station against three unnamed accused, from Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) in February 2020 and started further investigation.

Former superintendent of police Babul Akter has been arrested in the case of murdering his wife Mahmuda Khanam Mitu.
Chattogram PBI confirmed the matter to media on Tuesday evening.
Earlier on June 5, 2016, three assailants stabbed and shot Mitu, 30, dead when she was taking her son to his school bus stop at GEC intersection in the port city.
Initially, father-in-law of Babul filed a murder case against unnamed persons, pointing finger to the professional enemies of his the former SP.
Babul along with two children spent some days in in-law’s house after the murder.

The High Court today refused to grant bail to detained accused Motaleb Mia Wasim in a case filed over the gruesome murder of Mahmuda Khanam Mitu, wife of former superintendent of police (SP) of Chattogram Babul Akter, in June, 2016.
Motaleb was actively involved in the murder, according to the progress report on the investigation, the HC said.
The court wants the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to complete investigation into the case and submit the charge sheet before the trial court soon.
