BELCHERTOWN A 37-year-old Belchertown man was killed when the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a guardrail on Amherst Road (Route 9) Wednesday night, according to police.
Jason Zolendziewski was riding one of three motorcycles traveling east together on Amherst Road shortly after 8 p.m. when he lost control of the motorcycle and crashed into a guardrail, police said.
Zolendziewski apparently failed to negotiate a curve at 102 Amherst Road, said Police Chief Christopher Pronovost. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Belchertown police officers and firefighters responded to the scene following a 911 call at 8:22 p.m.

SUNDERLAND The Select Board has approved a film permit for a television show that will be filmed entirely in Massachusetts, according to a location scout for the show.

JACKSON TWP. Aqua Ohio plans to start replacing 6,100 feet of primary waterlines this week on multiple roads in the western part of the township.
The project was to begin a couple of weeks ago but got delayed. It includes parts of Amherst Road NW between Gladys Street NW and Traphagen Street NW as well as along Traphagen within Amherst and Wales Avenue NW.
Work is scheduled to start Wednesday and continue through the end of June or early July.
Cold weather delayed the mid-February start date, according to Jeff LaRue, spokesman for Aqua Ohio. Traffic will be maintained during the course of the project.

A massive bushfire in the Perth Hills has been downgraded to a watch and act after almost six days of gruelling efforts from firefighters to bring the devastating blaze under control.
Department of Fire and Emergency Services Commissioner Darren Klemm shared the news during a press conference on Saturday morning and said crews were in a âgreat placeâ to manage the fire.
