LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday sought an affidavit from Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar asking if Advocate General of Punjab (AGP) Ahmad Awais was under his instructions while giving a statement before the Supreme Court in 2018 about the constitution of a new joint investigation team (JIT) to hold an investigation into the 2014 Model Town incident afresh.
Earlier, Additional Advocate General Malik Akhtar Javed told a seven-judge larger bench that he had been appointed as prosecutor to represent the provincial government in the petitions against the JIT.

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Wednesday sought the federal government’s response to a petition that challenged the recent amendments to the Civil Service of Pakistan (Composition and Cadre) Rules, 1954, through a statutory regulatory order (SRO).
A bench consisting of Justice Mohammad Nasir Mahfooz and Justice Syed Arshad Ali issued an order for the purpose after holding preliminary hearing into the petition of Provincial Management Service officer Farhatullah Khan Marwat, who requested the court to declare the impugned SRO No 1046(1), which was issued by the government on Oct 14, unconstitutional and a violation of the Civil Servants Act, 1973.
