Muscatine Co working on finishing Phase 1A, schedule not up yet for 1B

By Julia Bertino Feb 1, 2021 (Muscatine County, IA) Health leaders in Muscatine County are working to finish up Phase 1A of COVID-19 vaccinations as they look ahead to working closely with the Iowa Department of Public Health on starting Phase 1B. At this point, health leaders say they do not have a waiting list or schedule that is available for Phase 1B. “We are working closely with approved vaccine providers in the county for distribution of the vaccine through Phase 1B,” health officials posted on Facebook. “You will be contacted by one of those approved providers when you are eligible and when the vaccine is available to you.”

This phase includes everyone over age 65, people with high risk health conditions, first responders, and others in key roles. Phase 1A: Paid and unpaid persons serving in healthcare settings who have the potential for direct or indirect exposure to patients or infectious materials. Long-term care facility residents and staff. Phase 1B: Iowans living in residential care facilities, assisted living program, elder group home and independent living facility residents and people 65 years of age or older. People who play a key role in keeping essential functions of society running and cannot socially distance in the workplace. And adults with high-risk medical conditions who possess risk factors for severe COVID-19 illness.

Miller-Meeks Files Motion to Dismiss Hart s Election Challenge Before U S House

John Pemble/Iowa Public Radio file Southeast Iowa Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA) filed a motion asking the U.S. House to dismiss a challenge brought by her opponent, former Democratic state Sen. Rita Hart, who is disputing Miller-Meek s six-vote victory in the November election. Miller-Meeks’ legal team argues the contest should be dismissed because Hart didn’t first make her case in state court. Miller-Meeks’ filing Thursday marks the next step in an appeals process before the Committee on House Administration, which will determine whether to dismiss the case or allow it to proceed. Ultimately, following a recommendation the committee, the full House could decide by simple majority vote who should have the seat.
