The Avanigadda police shifting the body of a suspected COVID-19 patient for the last rites in Krishna district on Saturday.
Police showed their humane side by performing the final rites of a suspected COVID-infected person at Perlavani Lanka village in Nagayalanka mandal in Krishna district on Saturday.
A woman, aged 38 years, who was suspected to be suffering from the virus, died on Saturday. Her brother, aged 33, died of COVID on Friday.
Krishna Superintendent of Police M. Ravindranath Babu said the woman was suffering from ill-health and died on Saturday. When the residents raised a hue and cry to remove the body, the police team led by Avanigadda CI Bheemeswara Ravi Kumar and Nagayalanka SI Kuchipudi Srinivas rushed to the spot.

In an attempt to check the spurt in coronavirus cases, the police have launched a ‘no mask, no entry to road’ programme in Krishna district and are imposing penalty on the violators, apart from educating people on the COVID appropriate behaviour.
“Special drives were undertaken in Machilipatnam, Gudivada, Nandigama, Avanigadda and Nuzvid divisions and cases were booked against those who were venturing out wearing masks. As many as 12,000 such cases have been booked in just 10 days and penalty of ₹8.46 lakh have been imposed on the violator,” said Krishna Superintendent of Police M. 200 buses arranged to transport polling staff: SP
Officials from the Revenue, Police, APSRTC and other departments have made foolproof security arrangements for the smooth conduct of fourth phase of gram panchayat elections in West Godavari district.
Polling will be conducted for 237 panchayats and 2,159 wards in 12 mandals on Sunday. Collector Revu Mutyala Raju and Election Observer Lathkar Shrikesh Balaji Rao and Election Expenditure Observer C. Selvam reviewed the arrangements on Saturday.
