Ogunyemi spoke at ASUU’s conference at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka in Anambra State.
During the speech marking the end of his three-year tenure. Ogunyemi thanked the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and others.
He also revealed that 30 ASUU members died of COVID-19 and other issues during the period under review.
He said, “In line with the provisions of our constitution, we are here to review our activities in the last three years to chart a new course at this critical juncture of our national life.
“As a point of departure, we must place on record that COVID-19 did not spare our campuses. Many of our infected members had had to combat the COVID attack with resources from colleagues and other people of goodwill because their salaries and emoluments, as well as the union’s check-off deductions, were either withheld by the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation over the re

Parents of Federal Government College, Nise, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State have petitioned the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu over the condition of their wards in the school.
The parents in a petition signed by ‘Concerned Parents’ alleged the maltreatment of their children by the Principal of the school, Dr. Ijeoma Ekumankama.
They alleged that their children are in prison under Ekumankama, while calling for an urgent intervention by the minister in the petition which was also copied to the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife.
Part of the petition read: “Our children are presently living in overcrowded hostels with maggot-infested overflowing toilets. The Principal, Mrs. Ekumankama defiantly refused to improve these children’s living conditions despite all the resources channelled in by the PTA.

In what looks like another leadership tussle is rocking the National Examinations Council (NECO) following the deployment of a detachment of armed Policemen and the Men of the Department of State Security Service to barricade the entrance gate of the headquarters of the organization along Bida road, Minna, the Niger state capital.
As early as 7:00am on Monday, the staff who where resuming from the sallah break, met a heavily armed Policemen and the Men of the DSS who subjected them to a thorough search and made to show their identity cards before allowing them into the premises.

The Civil Society Action Coalition on Education For All (CSACEFA) Oyo State Chapter has partnered with the World Bank and the Oyo State Government to give education a new lease of life in the state.
The coalition, as a sensitive member of the Oyo State Project Planning Team (OS-PPT) of the Global Partnership for Education 2 (GPE 2) a Transforming Education Systems at State (TESS) Level Project took an active part in a two-day strategic meeting on the project’s implementation and ways to effectively transform education in the state, held between May 4 and 5, 2021, in Ibadan, recently.

Members of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) community have been called upon to take advantage of the Federal Government’s Visitation Panel to the institution by submitting their memoranda and participating, actively in the process for the university’s overall future development.
Chairman of the panel and former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Gambo Laraba Abdullahi, who said this in a statement signed by the Secretary, Mrs. Bukola Olatunji, described the visitation as a very important assignment, which promises to, among others, address the challenges facing public university education in the country, in order to proffer solutions to them.
