A FORMER Mayor of Henley has called the prospect of homes being built on a green field “intolerable”.
Barry Wood is opposing plans by Bloor Homes for 100 properties on the upper half of Lucy’s Farm on Drawback Hill, behind the existing houses in Blandy Road.
It comes nine years after he launched a group called United!, which successfully campaigned against plans by the same developer for 130 homes on the land.
Mr Wood, who was then a town councillor, has spoken out again following the launch of a new campaign by three Henley residents against the latest application.

After the worst year for restaurants and their workers in memory, I’m happy to put 2020 in our rearview mirror and start thinking about what 2021 might look like.
With good and exciting news in short supply, it’s nice to think about what the new year will bring with it.
This list of forthcoming restaurants won’t be as robust as in years past, because most restaurant owners will probably spend most of their energy on their current projects, trying to figure out how to bridge through the spring and early summer to what promises to be a much brighter fall.

Islanders on Bryher, one of the Isles of Scilly, are preparing to see in 2021 with chilli and bingo at Fraggle Rock, the stone inn on the island’s rugged northern tip, in what was set to be one of the most ‘normal’ New Year get-togethers in Britain.
The only significant differences from other years was that guests are instructed to sit with their families and not to mix, it will be table service only, and they have to leave by 11pm, so cannot not actually celebrate the turning of the year inside the pub.
