Planning Commission recommends rezonings of Caravati’s, Loving sites

The redevelopment of a Manchester warehouse and a Shockoe Bottom surface lot each took a step forward Monday.
The city’s Planning Commission recommended approval of rezoning requests for the Caravati’s warehouse in Manchester, as well as at 300 and 400 Oliver Hill Way in Shockoe Bottom.
The Caravati’s property spans five parcels across two acres near the intersection of East Second and Stockton streets in Manchester. Last year, the architectural salvage company listed its land for sale and by February had it under contract to a mystery buyer.

TENNESSEE, USA Severe weather has impacted several counties in Tennessee resulting in power outages, debris, structural damage, and one weather-related fatality, according to Tennessee Emergency Management Agency.
A State of Emergency remains in place with the State Emergency Operations Center activated in Nashville to support statewide severe weather efforts.
The Tennessee Department of Health confirmed one weather-related fatality in Weakley County in West Tennessee.
TEMA said that as of 8 a.m., there are 31,000 customers without power in Middle and West Tennessee.
Butler Market Rd., Purcell Blvd Closures Start Today
As part of the Empire Corridor Improvements Project, the intersection of NE Butler Market Road and NE Purcell Boulevard will be closed starting May 3. This closure will extend for four to five months, anticipated into mid-September. The road closures are necessary to allow construction of a new roundabout at Butler Market Road and Purcell Boulevard.
Local traffic on NE Wild Rivers Loop, NE Cradle Mountain Way, NE Purser Avenue, NE Cruise Loop, NE Jonahs Court and NE Castle Avenue will access their neighborhoods from Purcell to the north.
The accompanying map shows the new detour routes. Pedestrian and bicycle traffic in this area will also be affected by the road closures.

Lovings Produce LLC seeks to rezone properties at 300, 400 and 510 Oliver Hill Way from industrial use to the TOD-1 Transit-Oriented Nodal District. The rezoning would potentially make way for a mixed-use development that could bring a new large retailer to the neighborhood.
Max Holdings LLC is proposing a five-story mixed-use building with 52 apartments above 7,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space at 711 Dawn St. The half-acre site is off Tazewell Street just north of where it branches off of Chamberlayne Avenue.
