PETALING JAYA: The goal of vaccinating 80% of the population is well ahead of schedule following a record 1.07 million doses administered over two days this week, says Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
“The daily vaccination rate reached its highest on Tuesday when a total of 553,871 doses were successfully administered nationwide where 356,112 individuals received their first dose and 197,759 their second dose.
This followed the 521,923 jabs given on Monday, he said when briefing the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.
He said this meant that a total of 1,075,794 doses were administered with some 692,733 or 2% of the population getting their first dose in just two days.
PETALING JAYA: Over 2,000 vaccination centres nationwide are currently administering Covid-19 vaccine doses, says Khairy Jamaluddin.
The Science, Technology and Innovation Minister said in Parliament on Wednesday (July 28) that a total of 2,313 vaccination centres (PPV) of various sizes and capacities are in operation as of July 22.
He said this includes 17 mega PPV with a capacity of over 5,000 and another 16 smaller mega PPV with a capacity of 3000 to 5000 as well as 300 public PPVs, 124 special PPVs in government hospitals, 60 on-site industrial PPVs as well as 16 PPVs at higher education institutions and four drive through PPVs.
Khairy added that the 2,313 also includes 1,443 private clinics and general practitioners, 121 private clinics and 19 ambulatory care centres, but also said that the figure does not include mobile vaccination units that are deployed to remote areas such as islands or interior areas.
