Blue Eagles Netball Club surprise their coach Kanyenda as he retires from Malawi Police Service

As he retires from the Malawi Police Service (MPS), Assistant Commissioner of Police, Samuel Qabaniso Kanyenda has also to relinquish his post as coach of Blue Eagles Netball Club, but he does not leave the netball fraternity in which he serves as technical director. Kanyenda, who dedicated his passion for the game with Blue Eagles since 1986, was pleasantly surprised when the Police-sponsored team honoured him with two farewell parties the other netball bonanza, ‘Sam Kanyenda Shield’ that was held last Sunday. University of Malawi delinking finally accomplished The delinking of Malawi’s oldest institution of higher learning, the University of Malawi, into three separate universities has been accomplished, 11 years after former president Bingu wa Mutharika mooted the idea to the university council in 2009. Mutharika only managed to delink or unbundle Bunda College in 2011 to create Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) before his death in 2012 and his successor, president Joyce Banda, shelved the process. But another past-president, Peter Mutharika, who succeeded Banda, rekindled the idea, which the current administration, under President Lazarus Chakwera, has now concluded. Blantyre City Council updating its register of private properties

Asks residents to comply as according to the Law Blantyre City Council is notifying all property owners and residents of the city that it has engaged officers from the Malawi Polytechnic to update its register of private properties in the city. In a public statement, Blantyre City Council says the Malawi Polytechnic officers will be wearing the Council’s branded reflector jackets and will have with them identity cards. Blantyre City spot views The Council appeals to property owners and tenants to allow these officers into their premises as “they have such powers under Section 73 of the Local Government Act 1998 (as amended in 2010)”.
