Volunteers plan to gather at Scissortail Park and the Myriad Botanical Gardens to lay floral hearts in honor of the more than 4,400 Oklahomans who lost their lives to COVID 19.
The display is a part of the Floral Hearts Project which partners with local florists, families, and volunteers to lay the flower arrangements in cities across the country.
The project is also part of a larger effort to make March 1st a National Day of Mourning.
According to organizers in Scissortail Park, more than 50 mayors across the nation signed onto the resolution.
The Floral Hearts Project is meant to create public spaces for grieving and supports adding permanent memorials in the future.
