DR. PAUL G. MEADE has been hired by Lovelace Medical Group. Meade is a board-certified colorectal surgeon who graduated with a bachelor’s of science degree in biology from Boston College. He earned his medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine and completed his general surgery residency at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu. He then completed his fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at Creighton University Medical Center. Meade is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons. he will provide surgical care for a wide range of colon conditions.

Having close relatives with colon polyps which can be precursors of cancer could mean that you have a higher risk for colon cancer, researchers say.
Colon cancer is the second deadliest form of cancer in the world, according to the World Health Organization.

Being overweight and inactive increases the risk, but genetics also play a role, researchers in Sweden and Boston said in the new report.
For the study, the investigators analyzed data on more than 68,000 colon cancer patients in Sweden and a control group of nearly 334,000 people without the disease.
