EQC selected Salesforce, unadvertised, as a prototype

New Zealand government disaster insurer EQC selected Salesforce as its engagement platform without openly advertising because it was considered a prototype .
The rules of government procurement include a series of exemptions from standard requirements to openly advertise planned purchases, under section 14.9.
In this case, EQC invoked section 14.9e, which allows the purchase of a prototype for research, experiment, study or original development .

Whangarei District Council has emerged as another local user of the file sharing software at the centre of the hack of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ). There have been some well-publicised issues with one of our vendors (Accellion), where their file sharing software was compromised, a February report on ICT operations to council said.

Internal Affairs renews all of government IaaS panel for five more years
Original trio of panel members remain to deliver four core managed hosting services.
Suppliers to the panel are Spark-owned CCL, Datacom and IBM. There are no changes to the agreement at this time, DIA told
Reseller News in a statement. We continue to work closely with IaaS providers to ensure their support for government agencies adoption of cloud services.
The original agreement dates back to 2011, so this is the second renewal.
