Cleaning up high volume and priority routes have been ongoing this spring, and this week cleaners begin moving in to 17 zones to pick up gravel and debris. This year’s program begins in the downtown then moves to Norwood, as zones are rotated each year. All communities should be completed by mid-May.

Alberta Health Services have identified two additional cases at Crescent Heights High School, totalling three active cases at the school. The division’s statement says the school remains on alert and all close contacts of positive cases have been identified and are in quarantine. River Heights School is also on alert and MHPSD says an additional positive case of COVID-19 has been identified at the school for a total of two active cases. All students and staff listed as close contacts are already in quarantine.

St. Joseph’s Home in Medicine Hat will be adding new technology Thursday when it receives five Google Assistants for long-term care patients in the palliative care unit. The Alberta South East Region’s Canadian Mental Health Association is donating the five devices and its executive director says she hopes one day a Google Assistant will be assigned to every long-term care bed in Medicine Hat. “I would love for us to be able to provide these Google Assistants to people who are living in long-term care so they can connect with family and friends, but also just so they can hear a friendly voice,” said Sandra Milne. “They can say, ‘Hey Google, tell me a joke,’ or ‘Hey Google, read me a story’ so that they’re not lonely.”
