A few weeks ago, President Yoweri Museveni berated the Western world for selfishly clinging on to the millions of vaccine doses against Covid-19.
Speaking at the virtual World Health Organisation (WHO) summit (The African Perspective) on June 28, at Speke Resort Munyonyo, the president accused Americans and Europeans of hoarding the vaccines from Africans.
The president also wondered why Africans depend on the Western world’s charity to solve their challenges. So, he concluded that the selfishness of the West has been a blessing in disguise because it has jolted the Africans awake to find their own solutions. In a way, the president is right.
