PUTRAJAYA: The first Covid-19 vaccine trial to be conducted in Malaysia is now officially underway.
In a virtual ceremony on Wednesday (Jan 27), Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba launched the Phase 3 clinical trial of the Covid-19 vaccine developed by China s Institute of Medical Biology Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (IMBCAMS).
A total of nine hospitals nationwide will be involved in the clinical trials, under the coordination of the Health Ministry s Institute of Clinical Research (ICR).
In a statement, the Health Ministry said the implementation of the trial must meet international standards and policies of the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and the Helsinki Declaration.

The nine hospitals participating in the trial, coordinated by the Ministry of Health s (MoH) Institute of Clinical Research (ICR), are the Ampang Hospital, Sarawak General Hospital, Penang Hospital, Seberang Jaya Hospital, Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital, Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, Taiping Hospital, Sungai Buloh Hospital and Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital.

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 27 The Health Ministry announced the commencement of local phase three clinical trials for a Covid-19 vaccine today, with the goal of assessing the vaccine’s safety and efficacy against the coronavirus.
In a statement, the ministry said the initiative is a joint effort between Malaysia and China via the Institute of Medical Biology Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (IMBCAMS), with the study playing a role in generating scientific evidence in assessing a vaccine for the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

(Bloomberg) AstraZeneca Plc’s vaccine won approval from Thailand, becoming the third company to clear regulatory requirements for use in Southeast Asia.
