ROME, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) The European Union s (EU) vaccine rollout plan has been thrown into disarray after the manufacturers of all three vaccines approved for use in Europe warned countries of delivery delays over the coming weeks and months.

More than three-quarters of Covid-19 patients hospitalized in Wuhan between January and May had at least one persistent symptom six months later, according to a report that forebodes the enduring pain of the pandemic.
Almost two-thirds of those followed still experienced fatigue or muscle weakness half a year after their acute illness, while 26% had sleep difficulties and 23% had anxiety or depression, according to the peer-reviewed study of 1,733 patients in The Lancet medical journal.
The research from China underscores the long-term effects of Covid-19 for individuals and societies as infections surge across the world despite budding vaccination campaigns. More than three-quarters of Covid-19 patients who required hospitalization had related health issues 6 months after SARS-CoV-2 infection in a study of more than 1,700 early patients from Wuhan, China.
In all, 76% of patients reported at least one symptom 6 months after hospitalization, with women more likely than men to report ongoing health issues. Fatigue or muscle weakness were the most common lingering symptoms, reported in 63% of the patients followed for a median of 186 days. Sleep difficulties, anxiety, and depression were also commonly reported.
The follow-up also revealed significantly lower antibodies against Covid-19 at 6 months, compared to those observed during acute illness, raising concerns about SARS-CoV-2 reinfection in patients who have had the disease.
