Ohio University students learn the skills to bring innovative ideas to life through the University Innovation Fellowship.
Managed by the OHIO Center for Entrepreneurship, fellows learn how to create positive assets on their home campus. Student leaders have the opportunity to influence the university community as they put their ideas into action.
The University Innovation Fellows program is run through Stanford University’s Hasso Plattner Institute of Design. The goal of the national program is to ensure that students gain the attitudes, skills and knowledge to contribute to the economy.

Professor David LaPalombara fondly recalls the exciting stories his father, Joseph, would tell his three children on long car rides. Fascinating tales with dynamic characters, the children would listen intently as they traveled to their destination.
“When we were kids on long car trips, usually to Maine, we would be bored and ask him to tell us a story and he’d make up these crazy stories. And Fescue was one of them,” LaPalombara said.

When six Ohio University students began their educational careers, none of them thought that before entering the workforce they would be faced with one of the world’s biggest challenges – a global pandemic.
As in-person learning turned virtual, experiential learning in labs seemed to be a faraway opportunity, however, in a few short months these students would not only be back in a lab safely researching, but helping publish an important study on ways to battle COVID.

Patricia Gray is retiring after 15 years as branch manager at the Coventry Village Library in Cleveland Heights. Gray introduced several programs while managing the branch and, upon leaving, said that plans are in place for refurbishing the branch s basement to add meeting rooms and upgrading its HVAC system. CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio Heights Libraries has passed along word that Coventry Branch Manager Patricia Gray will retire March 1.
“Known for her compassion, perceptiveness and creativity, Gray nurtured the staff, programs and collections at the branch, and helped it grow into a neighborhood gathering place that reflects the eclectic needs and interests of the community it serves,” a library news release notes.
