Remembering Bruce Meyers

Remembering Bruce Meyers Courtesy John Dinkel We lost Bruce Meyers. Yes, the Meyers with the S at the end of his name. The Meyers who designed the legendary Meyers Manx dune buggy, one of the most iconic, most recognizable, most fun and most copied designs in the history of the automobile. The Meyers who was famous for leaping tall sand dunes with a single bound and running through the esses at places like Pikes Peak. Yes, that Meyers. Related Stories He passed away peacefully and quietly in his sleep, a manner totally contradictory to the way he lived his life. He was 94 years young. I loved him. And I miss him dearly.

Andrea Bumstead, owner of Gaia House Café, reopened her vegetarian eatery at its new location at 1553 Plainfield Ave. NE in Grand Rapids’ Creston neighborhood with a soft opening last weekend. The menu includes original fan favorites, such as the mean green burrito and Gaia cookies, as well as fresh-pressed juices and specialty coffees. Currently, Gaia is open for takeout only from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Bumstead said she plans to hold a grand opening and extend service to indoor dining when the state of Michigan allows restaurants to reopen at full capacity.

How to Lose an Election: An Open Letter to Donald Trump

Gregory McKelvey, campaign manager for Sarah Ianaronne, has advice for Number 45.  By Gregory McKelvey 1/20/2021 at 11:37am Dear Donald Trump,  You are a man with whom I thought I would never share anything in common. But on the same day—November 3rd, 2020—we both lost elections that had consumed us.  For the first time ever in our dissimilar lives, you and I were experiencing the same thing, at the same time: Losing. I was the Campaign Director for Sarah Iannarone for Portland Mayor. During that campaign, I—along with my staff and my candidate— was tear gassed by both your federal officer and our opponents’ police bureau. We fought hard to get our message out. Our campaign came up just short. It was historic and record-breaking, but we lost. As did you.
