DEARBORN, Mich. (WXYZ) â This garage on Neckel Street is now a bedroom, living, closet and kitchen.
This is where Mike Kahaleâs has been staying for the past four days ever since his power went out due to severe flooding.
No power means, no air conditioning.
âItâs very hot. Very hot,â Kahale said. He put his family in a hotel while he stays inside the home to keep an eye on everything.
As a new city council heads into its first budget process together, city staff say they are in a position to not only restore items like street maintenance that were cut because of pandemic, but also put more money towards areas like housing and homelessness.

The City of San Antonio is hosting a virtual and telephone town hall from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday on police services.
In a news release issued Wednesday morning, the city said it is seeking input from residents on their expectations of police services. Residents can join the town hall virtually or via their phones by filling out a registration form. Registration ends at 3 p.m.

San Antonio is recovering economically from COVID-19, but a deficit in the city’s budget is projected over the next five years, according to a forecast presented to the city council on Wednesday.
The next budget year for 2022 is expected to remain balanced. However, the years after that could see tens of millions of dollars that the city will need to make up as city officials begin to restore cuts initiated during the pandemic. Ultimately, it will be a decision by the city council on how to move forward.
