Andrew Kragie Law360 (January 21, 2021, 10:42 PM EST) Seven Democratic senators on Thursday filed a complaint with the Senate Ethics Committee seeking an investigation of Republican Sens. Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley over their objections to certifying the presidential election results, arguing they elevated baseless claims that inspired a mob to storm the U.S. Capitol.
The Democrats urged a probe and possible action from the ethics panel composed of three senators from each party. The committee can only act based on a majority vote, requiring bipartisan support and making any serious action a long shot.
