Resurfacing to begin on Ohio 309
MARION - The Ohio Department of Transportations says Ohio 309, between the Hardin/Marion County line and Holland Road, will have daily lane restrictions between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. starting Monday for road resurfacing. The work is expected to be completed Friday.
Public hearing set for Big Island Township budget
BIG ISLAND TWP - The Big Island Township Trustees will hold a public hearing on the proposed 2022 budget at 6 p.m. June 15 at the township hall, located at the corner of Decliff-Big Island and Bumford roads. All residents are welcome. The budget is available for public inspection by calling the fiscal officer for an appointment at 740-225-4030.

Briefs: River Valley student wins prestigious award

River Valley student wins Franklin B. Walter award
MARION - River Valley High School senior Carson Bollinger was one of 84 students across the state of Ohio to receive the prestigious Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award. Recipients are selected by virtue of their academic achievement, personal accomplishments and community service.
Bollinger was chosen from among the high schools in Marion County. The son of Mark and Melissa Bollinger of Marion, Carson graduated Friday with an Associate of Arts degree from Marion Technical College and will graduate from River Valley May 28 as valedictorian with a 4.0 grade point average. He is a member of the River Valley National Honor Society.
