Indianapolis crime: Man and teen charged with murder in shooting

Marcus Dalton, 20, and a 13-year-old boy, whose name has not been released, were arrested the day after Indianapolis police found Demetri Swann with gunshot wounds in an alley between North Tuxedo and Olney streets. Emergency medical services pronounced Swann, 22, dead at the scene.  Dalton has been charged with murder, felony murder, carrying a handgun without a license and robbery resulting in serious bodily injury. The 13-year-old, whose charges are filed in juvenile court, faces two counts of murder and a charge of robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, the Marion County Prosecutor s Office said. According to a probable cause affidavit, a neighbor told police they heard a loud “pop” in the neighborhood around the time of the shooting. A person ran past their pickup, being chased by two men  one “stocky,” the other: smaller.

FOP Head Snyder Critical of Marion Co Prosecutor Ryan Mears

FOP Head Snyder Critical of Marion Co. Prosecutor Ryan Mears INDIANAPOLIS The leader of the Indianapolis Fraternal Order of Police says Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears “failed” to keep guns away from accused FedEx shooter Brandon Hole. In March of 2020, police received a call that Hole might attempt “suicide by cop.” As a result, the 19-year-old was taken to the hospital, and police seized a shotgun he had purchased that year. The weapon was never returned to him. According to FOP President Rick Snyder, the police “took all steps available to them” to prevent Hole from accessing more firearms. Indiana’s red flag law allows the seizure of firearms from potentially dangerous people. However, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office never filed with the court to apply the red flag law to the accused FedEx shooter. As a result, Hole was able to purchase more guns effortlessly and used them to kill eight people on April 15, 2021.

Police saw white supremacist websites on FedEx shooter s computer during 2020 gun seizure, IMPD says

Apr 20, 2021 / 12:52 PM EST INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) On the day in March 2020 that police seized a shotgun from Brandon Hole and took him for a mental health evaluation, an officer saw what he recognized as white supremacist websites on Hole’s computer, more than a year before Hole shot and killed eight people on Thursday night at a FedEx facility in Indianapolis. That’s according to a police report released Monday by Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. Hole’s mother and sister went to the IMPD’s East District headquarters on March 3, 2020, to ask for help after they said he bought a gun and began talking about using it to try “suicide by cop,” according to the report.
