Public health officials are warning Ottawa County residents to be careful after three bats tested positive for rabies.
The Ottawa County Department of Public Health says two of the bats were found in Holland and one of the bats was found in Hudsonville.
These are the first known cases of rabies in the county in the past five years.
Officials warn people to stay away from wild animals and make sure pets are vaccinated against rabies.

Movie theaters across West Michigan are starting to see increasing ticket sales as COVID-19 vaccination rate increase and case numbers drop.
Emily Loeks with Celebration Cinema says summer blockbuster releases are expected to help the industry recover.
Theaters are continuing to follow state capacity limits and strengthened sanitation processes.
Loeks says this has been the most challenging year in their 75-year history.

However, the parks are seeing changes this year due to COVID.
Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Director David Marquardt says while pools were shut down last year, kids that historically worked for them went and found other jobs.
Marquardt says this is a problem happening across the country at other parks and rec organizations as well.
