Joshua Tree National Park officials said Sunday a search for a missing Twentynine Palms man has been suspended after a body was located within the park.
Park officials said in a news release that a recovery is ongoing and identification by the San Bernardino County Medical Examiner is pending. They did not indicate where or when the body was found.
According to previous reporting, Patrick Lynn Welz, 38, was last seen June 5 when he left to drive to Riverside to visit his father, park spokesperson Jennie Albrinck said in a press release issued Friday.
He was reported missing on Thursday and park staff found his truck in the Indian Cove parking lot the same day, Albrinck said.
