The item below may shed light on just why it was being sold. Parish Fork, WV July 8 Ed. Times. Ever since I have been in this State I have had a desire to visit the “Mineral Wells,” this side of Parkersburg. A friend, with whom I was in company and myself, looked in vain for an advertisement of this watering place in your paper, to ascertain whether the house was open. [Having found none,] we, concluded to take the chances, as the place lies in sight of the road on which we intended making our journey homeward. We found the house open, but no guests.

roberteenoch@gmail.com COOPER’S WELL [leading to the name of Mineral Wells], or Buena Vista, owes its principal notoriety to some late cures of Dropsy and Dyspepsia. These were truly wonderful, and so perfect as ought to establish the fame of this water at once. He who tastes must be convinced that this contains medicinal properties in an eminent degree. Upon first coming from the well, it is clear and cool, looks palatable and would, for once, tempt the thirsty. A single draught, and its real nature is manifest. Salts and Magnesia predominate among the constituents of this powerfully medicinal water, and there are other properties whose presence is quite perceptible.

It may have been bell-ringing from the tower shown above that “annoyed” one of the writers below. Today the site of the former church is a parking lot for Trinity Episcopal Church. Formerly, Dudley’s Florist and Miller’s Furniture occupied the site.
